Dear Walden Families,
Big Help Day is coming on Saturday, April 27, 8 a.m. - noon, and we're getting really excited! For those of you new to Walden, Big Help is a day when, as a community, we come together to give back to the larger Pasadena and Los Angeles basin through service-learning projects generated by the Walden cores. Our kids have been working hard all year learning to be stewards of our planet, and on Big Help Day we get to see this in action. This event is for the WHOLE family and we hope all Walden families will participate in some way. Though each core has a focus (details provided below), any person can work on any of the projects.
Lower Core This year, the Lower Core will continue building a partnership with Monte Vista Grove Homes. On campus, the kids will decorate terra cotta pots and plant them with succulents. Then, kids and parents will walk the short distance to Monte Vista Grove to deliver them to the residents. Last year was a smashing success, and the residents still remember and talk about our students' visit with great pleasure.
Middle Core Middle Core will be continuing their study of the local ecosystem by working with the Friends of Griffith Park for a day of stewardship to the park. Led by Friends of Griffith Park, children and parents will spend the day doing hands-on work to restore the landscape of the park.
Upper Core
We need your help with supplies and to chaperone the Upper Core. Please sign up using the links below.
This event is a wonderful opportunity for parents to model generosity and collaboration and to support the intentional learning our kids do all year. See you on the 27th!
